What I do

I provide a psychological consultation and treatment service, specialising in psychoanalysis.

In brief, psychoanalytic approaches are longer term, exploratory psychotherapies that have a focus on the unconscious causes of distress and mental health difficulties.  Click to learn more about Psychotherapy or Psychoanalysis.  To open a useful leaflet from the British Psychoanalytic Council explaining more click here.

Who can I help?

Subject to consultation, I may be able to help with problems related to depression, anxiety, relationships, sex and sexuality, trauma, abuse, identity, transitions, bereavement, stress or medically unexplained symptoms.  However, psychoanalytic therapy is not a symptom-focused approach and I would recommend other kinds of therapies if that seemed more suitable.

I have a special interest in providing psycho-dynamically oriented supervision to clinical psychologists in adult mental health roles, where we can formulate psycho-dynamically, whilst respecting your own clincal  approach.

Training and regulation

I have an MA in Psychology and a qualifying Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.  I trained in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, whilst at the Tavistock Clinic in London, and subsequently trained as a Psychoanalyst, with the Institute of Psychoanalysis, also in London.

I am a Member of the Institute of Psychoanalysis, a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.

I am regulated as a Psychoanalyst and Psychotherapist by the British Psychoanalytic Council.

I am regulated as a Psychologist by the Health Care Professions Council.
